Students used materials directly from the grant to create amazing artwork using printmaking, watercolor, and pencil. In addition, they took a field trip to the Getty Museum for inspiration in November. Further learning will include silkscreen printmaking for PST: LA/LA funds.
Primarily, PST: LA/LA -based learning was integrating art into reading and writing with a focus on students with a background in a language other than English. Teachers took time to analyze data and create intervention groups. Teachers then collaborated to improve student learning with PST: LA/LA lessons on analyzing and discussing art work (Visual Thinking Strategies) and developing lessons that use art to teach content in other subjects, primarily English and History.
