Students engaged in an art project that represented their identity. 8th graders focused on dystopian and utopian worlds and were asked to create a self-portrait of how they would represent themselves in their own utopian world including any symbols that they felt represented them, while 9th graders were focused on overcoming obstacles and were asked to create a self-portrait of what they felt would represent themselves after overcoming said obstacle.
I provided a PD for fellow colleagues on the importance of integrating arts in our classrooms. I hope to do a collaboration art project with our students for one of our upcoming units. I also created and shared an impromptu Google Slide and showed the PST information we were given and some of last years student artwork as well.
This has been a great experience again and I am committed to continuing to integrate arts in our classrooms as often as I possibly can. The students and I truly appreciate the opportunity.
