Students engaged in VTS (Visual Thinking Strategy)-learning through art. They were introduced to contemporary art works that they traditionally have a difficult time understanding and used some of the VTS strategies to understand what they were looking at. These newly acquired capabilities were transferred to other disciplines and subjects such as history and science.
Teachers were taught how to use VTS (Visual Thinking Strategies). They were introduced to what VTS is and why it's important for students to have those capabilities. They also had two modeled demonstrations to see how this is accomplished. During the PD, they got a flash drive that gave them content to show their students (slides and videos) and information about research and implementation of VTS.
